Bonus post: chosen by Japan...?

Just to follow up on an earlier piece of information: I have indeed been chosen to model for a Japanese fashion company, according to the phone call I just received from a young woman with excellent English and a warm manner. The next step is an audition on Wednesday evening, where they will have me try on clothes from the line they're due to exhibit. I'm not entirely clear on whether I can still be rejected at this stage if they decide none of their clothes look good on me, but I'm happy to go along for the experience either way.

The company, by the way, is N. Hoolywood (the name is deliberate, a pun on "Hollywood" and "hooligan"), and the man who scouted me claimed it was Japan's leading fashion brand (I have no idea, but the Western reviewers who mention it, based on a quick Google search, invariably do so with praise). There's an English-language wiki page at http://www.virtualjapan.com/wiki/N.Hoolywood, and their actual website is dual-language.

Life just keeps getting more weird, no?

  1. Image seach brings up some rather...distinctive clothing. If you end up as a profesional male model for these guys I don't think I'll ever be able to take life seriously again!

  2. Heh. It'll be worth doing just for that alone. I'll post here if I find out I'm due to wear something particularly interesting.

Given that I won't be around for more than one event, though, I doubt they're going to hire me in any professional capacity. On the other hand, they might pay me. Making money on this trip will make me feel a lot better about all the spending I did at Akihabara today.

  3. Oooh, their collection looks like it'd suit your bodyshape (that was initially written as "boyshape :S, make of that what you will... ) really well, actually! I had a peak at their autumn collection and think that at the very least you should get them to give you their fitted shirts and mandarin-collared leather trench coat! Eeee!
